Medieval Clothing
Classical clothing of the Greek & Roman inspired the women's fashion of the middle ages. Women had to wear a long cloak over there clothes and closed shoes. Medieval clothes represented the person wearing the clothing's status. Clearly the higher and lower class had a different set of clothes. Wealthy people of the middle ages could only dress fashionably. Signs of wealth was basically shown in the clothes people of the middle ages were wearing, brighter color and better material showed of great wealth. Clothes that were torn and faded showed lack of wealth.
The women of the middle ages would wear flowing dresses, and complex head wear. Peasant men wore stockings or tunics, while women wore long dresses with sleeveless tunics and to cover there hair they wore wimples. In the winter for the protection from snow or rain they wore sheepskin cloaks and woolen hats. Peasant women of the middle ages spun wool into threads that were woven into the clothing for these clothing. To line the garments of the wealthy they used fur. Knights weren't permitted to wear rings. The wealthy was only allowed to wear clothes that were decorated with silver.
